In his lecture, Arturs Lešinskis introduces the National Library of Latvia’s innovative cooling system, which uses water from the Daugava River
As part of the opening ceremony for the 2nd and 3rd floors of the National Library of Latvia (LNB), Dr Arturs Lešinskis, Chairman of the Board of SIA Lafivents, gave a lecture entitled ‘Moving water helps to cool the building’.
Those interested had the opportunity to learn about the unique solution in which water from the Daugava River is used to cool the LNB building. In Latvia, this is the first time such energy-efficient technology – using a natural resource, namely river water, to cool a building – has been applied in a national-scale construction project. This solution allows for a significant reduction in the operating costs of the building’s air conditioning.
After the lecture, attendees had the opportunity to view the cooling system’s distribution unit, pump station and cooling equipment in person.
