The Science Centre has been designed according to the principles of a smart home, with high energy efficiency. The building’s heating, ventilation, cooling and lighting systems are automated, saving resources. Some of the building’s foundation piles are thermal piles, to which heating and cooling equipment has been connected to utilise geothermal energy. The House of Science utilises ‘cool ceiling’ technology – a cooling and heating system is built into the concrete slabs, through which the water required for heating or cooling flows.
